Michael Dell - The founder of the Dell Inc.

The founder of the Dell Inc. – is the world-famous American Michael Dell. On September 2018, he was ranked as the 39th richest person in the world by Forbes. He was born in 1965 on February 23 in the city of Houston, Texas, into a prosperous family. His parents were educated and wealthy people. His father worked as an orthodontist and his mother as a stockbroker. Like all parents, they wanted Dell to follow in their footsteps. However, he chose the path of a successful entrepreneur and did not want to continue his education.

No one who knew Michael could even imagine that he would achieve something in life. At the age of 8, he tried to leave school and obtain a document on distance learning that would allow him to do his exams earlier, arguing that there are more important things in life than studying. At the age of 12, he organised his first business, engaged in collecting stamps and buying them at the expense of the money earned from carrying water in a Chinese restaurant, he created his own brand sale auction. Dell earned 2 thousand dollars. Throughout his teenage life, he tried many businesses, and they all succeed and generated an income. Nonetheless, his parents still did not believe in his entrepreneurship.

Dell entered the Texas State University in Austin at the Faculty of Biology. While studying at the university, he organized a new business, which soon brought Michael fame and material independence. The essence of the business idea was simple. At that time, personal computers had just appeared. The students wanted to learn new technologies, but the prices for new items were enormous. Then, Michael bought parts of equipment that remained in stock from IBM dealers. It was in his room at the university dorm, that he made a makeshift kind of workshop and assembled ready-made modified computers. Then he gave advertisements in the newspaper about selling his computers 15% below the market value.
This is how PC’s Limited was established, a company that now sells computers, the founder of which was Dell. Every day, the company brought in more and more profit and demanded close attention to its activities. At age 19, Michael left the university and devoted all his time to PC’s Limited. In 1987, the company received a new name: Dell Computer Corporation. Despite all the difficulties, Dell Computer Corporation not only maintained its position in the global market but also became the most popular PC manufacturer in the world. In 1992, aged 27, he became the youngest CEO of a company ranked in Fortune magazine’s list of the top 500 corporations.

Michael Dell is currently married to Susan Lieberman and they have four children. In 1999, Michael and Susan Dell established the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. The foundation provides aid to urban education, childhood health and family economic stability. Dell donates mostly to Medical Centers and Computer sciences. In 2013, the foundation provided an additional $50 million commitment to establish the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas in Austin.
