All flights have been suspended, to China, by British Airways, in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. An email has been sent by the company saying, “We apologise to customers for the inconvenience, but the safety of our customers and crew is always our priority.“ Flights to Hong Kong seem to be unaffected. The company mentioned that the flights will be put on hold while more information is gathered from British officials according to Bloomberg.
United Airlines, for example, suspended their flights to China due to a “significant decline in demand,” rather than specific safety concerns. British Airways, on the other hand, cancelled their flights due to the British Foreign Offices warnings against all but essential travel to mainland China.
Meanwhile, UK is also arranging to evacuate its citizens from Wuhan and the Hubei province due to the outbreak, which already resulted in 132 deaths in China. An estimated 6,000 people worldwide are thought to be infected, accorded to CNN.
