TikTok reaches 2 billion downloads

Despite the global pandemic, TikTok continues to be thriving, and today, Sensor Tower analytics group announced that the social media application has been downloaded more than 2 billion times worldwide. It was distributed on the App Store and Google Play, and 315 million users in this quarter alone, have downloaded the app. Notably, such device download statistics do not account for third-party app stores in China. Sensor Tower claims the countries that account for the most downloads are India, China and the US.

It wouldn’t be shocking if this year’s TikTok witnessed its largest quarter of growth. It’s even a joke on TikTok that through the pandemic and social distance, millennials are finally all joining the platform. When people have more time on their hands and are lonely at home, there is rise in social networks, amid marketers tightening their budgets. According to its earnings call, Snapchat increased its average user base by 11 million users this year, and its rival Marco Polo also witnessed huge growth, with a 745 percent rise in signups only throughout the week of 30 March.
