Galaxy Z Flip commercial was aired by Samsung

Samsung has decided to tease us with the Galaxy Z flip, before the official announcement. It showed off the whole phone in a small commercial. The company decided to go for this move, since the Academy Awards fall ahead of Samsung’s February 11th Unpacked keynote.

The phone is rumoured to have a glass screen. The ad showed the phone sitting on a table at a 90-degree angle on its own. It doesn’t seem to be able to fold completely flat. Like the Motorola Razr, which was bombarded with negative reviews about its creaky hinges.

“You may notice a small crease in the centre of the main screen, which is a natural characteristic of the screen,” is written in small print for the ad. Two colours were shown, black and purple. The outside screen is very small but still in full colour.

It is not the first time Samsung airs ads at the Academy Awards. Previous Oscars ads featured product placement celebrity selfies to subtle apologies for its exploding Note phones. Nevertheless, this year they took a more traditional approach and showed off their new Galaxy Z Flip.
